Took my friend Ryan and my daughter Taylor to the Southern Off-Road Adventure Rally at the Market of Marion. This event event brought off-roaders from all over the state to enjoy a beautiful weekend, great 4×4 company, and awesome courses to test our skills on.
The event was Saturday and Sunday, however Sunday provided clinics to help novice off-roads understand what is needed to safely off-road. Learned a lot from the clinics. Have been working on my “essentials” bag ever since.
One of the highlights of the S.O.A.R. was the three courses they setup. A stock, modified, and extreme course challenged ever level of off-roader. Being a novice, I stuck to the stock course. Good thing too, there are some things I need to learn before pursuing the moderate course.
Here’s a ride-a-long video I made with my dash mounted GoPro Hero 2 while driving the stock course. My rig is a stock 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. While I have the equipment to handle a lot, I’m still learning. Sit back and enjoy.
